OSHA Outreach 10 Hour

Course: OSHA Outreach 10-Hour Construction

Prerequisite: None

Description: This course is intended to provide entry level construction workers information about their rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint; as well as how to identify, abate, avoid and prevent job related hazards on a construction site.  Material will be presented through the use of lecture, videos, discussion and class exercises.

Required Topics

  • Introduction to OSHA – 2 hours
  • OSHA Focus Four – 4 hours

-          Falls

-          Electrocution

-          Struck-By

-          Caught-in or Between

  • Personal Protective and Life Saving Equipment

Elective Topics – Must present at least two hours of training on the following topics. At least two topics must be presented and the minimum length of any topic must be at least one-half hour.

  • Cranes, Derricsk, Hoists, Elevators & Conveyors
  • Excavations
  • Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal
  • Scaffolds
  • Stairways and Ladders
  • Tools – Hand and Power
  • Optional – 1 hour (Any other construction industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics

A written exam is not required, however students will be quizzed as a group to ensure understanding and comprehension.

Documentation: Students will receive a 10-Hour card, issued by Federal OSHA, within three weeks of completion
