Course Summary:
This training course provides students with and introduction to the changes implemented to the "Right to Know Act", better known as the Hazard Communication Standard.

Course Objective: This course is designed to assist employees in learning about work hazards, how to protect themselves, and include the revisions that align with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) published in the Federal Register in March 2012 (77 FR 17574)

Learning Objective: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Describe the purpose of changes to the Hazard Communication Standard.
  • Discuss the benefits of bringing the standard into alignment with the GHS
  • Identify pictograms used by the GHS
  • Discern between an MSDS and SDS; and
  • Identify hazards using the new labels and SDS
Written Exam: Written and hands on exam will be evaluated at the end of the course. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with the class as a whole to ensure understanding before completion of the course.
