Course: Electrical Safety


 This course covers OSHA Electrical Standards and the hazards associated with electrical installations and equipment. Course topics include single and three phase systems, cord and plug-connected and fixed equipment, grounding, ground-fault circuit interrupters, and safety-related work practices. Emphasis is placed on electrical hazard recognition and OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures and applicable portions of the National Electrical Code. (NEC)

Course Objective: Provide students with basic safety knowledge from temporary to permanent power guidelines when working with energized electrical tools. 

Learning Objective: Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to identify:
  • Name and protective devices
  • Wiring design and protection of electrical cords
  • Equipment installations and grounding requirements
  • Safe guards for personal protective equipment
Written Exam: Written and hands-on competency will be evaluated at the end of the course. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of the course.
