Course: Back Safety


 This course prepares students to take appropriate action in the workplace in regards to lifting and moving objects. 

Program Topics:
  • Provide information on the anatomy of the back.
  • Provide information on the mechanics of proper lifting and moving. 
  • Prepare the student with a background of information on the proper lifting and moving techniques.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of the Back Safety Awareness course, the student will be familiar with:
  • The back and how it functions in simple terms.
  • Ergonomics
  • Body mechanics, posture and habits that can lead to back injuries
  • Incorporating warm up stretching exercises into work and home habits
  • Best practices that will help prevent back injuries.
Written Exam: Written and hands-on competency will be evaluated at the end of the course. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with students to ensure understanding before completion of the course. Student shall be required to demonstrate proper lifting techniques. 

Documentation: Sign in sheets are required to document the number of students that will receive a certificate of completion. Please allow up to 48 hours notice on class sizes greater than 30.
